German guitar manufacturer Hofner is a name strongly associated with the sixties. The company was made famous by The Beatles' bassist Paul McCartney's use of their left-handed 1962 Hofner 500/1 model.
Today it is known as the 'Beatle Bass' after the Liverpool club where The Beatles played in their early days.
Today some artists still use the Hofner 'Beatle's' bass, particularly Mark Stoermer of The Killers in live performances.
The new CT versions are actually far more robust and playable than the originals. The best examples are the Verithin and the Fiddle Bass, both stunning quality.
