Product Description

Marshall 1987X Reissue valve head. This is a 50 watt version reissue of the first Marshall circa 1967 valve head developed at the request of Pete Townsend which in combination with 2 4x12 cabs became known as the first Marshall stack, a real revolution in sound at the time. As with many things designers often get it right the first time around another example being the Fender tele. The amp is most well known for it's sweet natural distortion without the full volume of the 100 watt headwith no added gizmos. It's also known as the Plexi head. This refers to the front panel material plexi glass. It's main features are 50 watts rms output, 3 band tone controls, 3 x EcCC83 input and 2 x EL84 output valves and a series effects loop. This is an amp that needs to breathe and ideal for the studio or a gig where it can be cranked up.
Though the 50 Watt 1987X shares the same front and rear panel features as its big brother, the 1959 SLP, it does have its own distinct personality. Sweet warm singing sounds are packed into every nook and cranny of this great tone machine
