From early Beatles to Jackson Pollack - a short history of Hofner electric guitars

Hofner guitars are best known for their association with the Beatles. Both Paul McCartney and Stuart Sutcliffe (his predecessor) used a Hofner 500 bass; and as a result the 500 quickly became known as the ‘Beatle’ or ‘Cavern’ bass.

In the Stone Roses, John Squire played a Hofner guitar sporting a custom paint job by Jackson Pollock. Instantly, players began customising their own Hofner guitars in homage to their saint.

Our Hofner electric guitars have recreated this for the 21st century, with a whole new generation of Hofner guitars which look certain to become every bit as iconic as the originals.

Verithin - with a big fat sound

Our Hofner Verithins are outstanding semi-acoustic guitars built in the style of their classic predecessors - models like the President, Golden and Senator Verithin Hofner guitars.

They are fitted with authentic full-size ‘humbuckers’ and nickel-plated hardware, and are available in three different colour finishes. As with all our Hofners the sound is pure dynamite.

Clubbing it with Hofner

The Hofner Club semi-acoustic is another of our guitars with Beatles connections, as the original Hofner Clubs were popular with both George Harrison and John Lennon.

Today’s version boasts Hofner Diamond pickups and nickel plating like the original, but has been brought bang up to date with a sustain pedal and improved feedback control.

Rock on with Colorama

Our Hofner Colorama guitars include the CT Custom and the CT Special Edition. The Hofner CT Custom is fitted with original Hofner Diamond humbuckers and a 4 position rotary pick-up selector, wiping out the hum that is often associated with single-coil pickup.

The Colorama Special is ideal for playing electric blues. Fitted with two P90s, like the CT Custom it is available in a choice of finishes.

Introducing the cheeky Shorty

Shorty Hofner electric guitars are the babies of the family, recreating the renegade look of the 1980s.

Available in various colour finishes, the Shorty comes equipped with its own gig bag.
