Without Speakers the show will not go on

If you are dependent on PA Speakers to make your living as an artist, it is obvious that you require a sturdy and reliable set. Knowing which system will work best for you is a matter of personal choice and experience.

However, when it comes to the time to buy your speakers or PA speakers, there are a few considerations to be taken into account. Many brands are flooding the market yet many do not live up to expectations, some not even past the first performance. Perhaps the most essential part of a PA system is its speakers, as without them the system would be useless. PA speakers need to be of the best quality in order to produce quality sound and should also be placed where they are able to define sound optimally.

What makes a good Studio Monitor?

Opinions differ about what makes a good studio monitor, and these opinions are based on personal preference and purpose of use. However, no matter what the individual opinion is, a studio monitor should be of the highest quality and should allow long periods of listening without fatigue. Anyone who has been subjected to poor performing speakers will attest to this fact.

The audio speakers must be solid and their circuitry must be capable of streaming without peaks or blinks. It is a mistake to consider using the inappropriate PA speakers and expect them to deliver, as they need to be properly catered for their purpose.

Another consideration is, what will the studio monitor be used for? If it is to be used in a professional setting then it must, quite obviously, be of a professional level. However, as this is a more expensive investment, it is important to remember that using a studio monitor in a more amateur setting doesn't require you to break the bank as much. With the use of initiative, this element of consideration shouldn't be too taxing.

Part of the investment should take into account how the music needs to be prepared. While traditional speakers may deliver sound in a friendly high range, they will also deliver a bigger punch in the bass. Whatever the level of playback your studio monitor needs to provide, it should give consistent feedback and via its PA speakers allow one to listen to all the mixing elements at various levels of volume.

Studio monitors are nothing more than audio speakers specifically designed for audio recordings. They solve the problems of audio mixing as well as mastering tasks, allowing the user to mix tacks that will sound great at the widest range of playback. The expectation is that the audio speakers will provide stable phase with no special emphasis on frequency. This is needed so that the audio speakers give an accurate copy of the quality of the audio source.

All audio speakers tend to colour the voice and the only way to improve the quality of sound coming from them is through buying quality PA speakers.
