Why are Bass Guitar Stands important?

Apart from being able to support the instrument safely, stands must provide other important features.

A stand should have a wide stance so that it can support the guitar at the widest point possible.

It is also of optimum importance that they are stable, as stands support the instrument as stands allow them to lean backwards. If the stand is properly angled then this will allow natural gravity to keep the guitar securely in place. This is perhaps the most important feature to look for in bass guitar stands.

The stand must have the necessary padding in all of the essential contact points; where the instrument touches the stand. All these spots should be lined with padding, if not the guitar will sit on wood or metal which will cause scratching or damage to a very expensive instrument.

Stands that have sharp hooks are not recommended. These hooks are usually found toward the bottom of bass guitar stands and are meant to prevent the guitar from slipping forward, but they tend to do more damage than good.
